I am often asked what types of activities
can be enjoyed with your Flat Coat. Flat Coated Retrievers are first and foremost
a hunting breed. They are one of the few sporting dog breeds that have not
split into 'field type' and 'show type'. Breeders continually strive to keep
this dual-purpose intact in our breed. That said, the Flat Coated Retriever
can and does enjoy a myriad of activities! That pup you get for 'strictly
a companion dog' may wind up leading you into all sorts of events and activities!
It is a great way to give your dog 'a job to do', meet people, and get involved
! Some of the more common events Flat Coats and their owners partake
in are listed below-and it is by no means an all-inclusive list!
If you are interested in any of these activities, please contact your breeder,
your regional FlatCoated Retriever Club (check under our links page), your
local kennel club, or local dog training organization for more information.
You can also follow the links
below to National organizations for each activity. |
